Fraud Protection

We are committed to keeping your Elmira Savings Bank accounts safe from all types of fraud.  To preserve the security of your debit card, Elmira Savings Bank cards are automatically enrolled for our fraud detection service.  As part of this service, experienced fraud analysts watch for unusual activity on your debit card to ensure purchases are authorized by you.  We are on guard 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to best protect your financial security.

Should unusual activity occur, you will be contacted by our Fraud Department through a text message, phone call or email to ensure the purchase is valid.  If you are contacted regarding suspicious activity, keep in mind the following:

  • All communication will come from Elmira Savings Bank;

  • The last four digits of your card number will be included in the message;

  • You will be asked to respond with a simple “Yes” or “No” as to whether or not you made the purchase in question;

  • We will never ask for your account information.


In some cases, your card may be temporarily blocked for your protection until you respond to the communication.  If you respond stating the purchase was valid, please allow 5-10 minutes for your card to be activated before making additional purchases.
Should you plan to travel out of the area, please review the Travel Indication portion of our website and contact Elmira Savings Bank to ensure your card remains open and available for use.
